2013 Kirschgarten Spätburgunder GG, dry, Grand Cru
This vineyard was originally owned by the Kirschgarten Cloisters ( Nunnery ) in Worms and first mentioned in 1654. This vineyard is protected by the village of Laumersheim on one side and by a westerly embankment on the other. Water retentive loess / loam lies over a dep, limestone ridge. After a traditional fermentation on the skins, the resulting wine was matured in new oak casks ( from Burgundy ) for 18 months and a further 3 years in the bottle before release. Sensual, enticing wood spice aromas, with delicate red berry fruit. The mouthfeel soft and creamy with elegant, ripe Pinot fruit. An ideal partner to game or beef.
